Greetings Families!

I hope you had a great weekend! We had a good week at school, the highlight of which was Family Reading Night on Thursday. Thanks to all who could come out for the evening! As I walked around with my camera, I saw many students and their families totally enjoying the evening.

Aside from the fun everyone had, dedicating an entire event to reading sends a powerful message to young people that reading is important, as an activity and as a skill.

If you are looking for ways to make reading part of life in your home, check out these ideas from Reading Rockets: Encouraging Your Child to Read

If you try any of the ideas or have other ideas for encouraging reading and a love of language at home, consider sending them to me, and I'll share with other parents in a future newsletter!

Wishing you a week ahead that includes some reading fun!

In partnership with you,

Mary
