Hello Marcia Buker Families!
It looks like Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, was a good predictor of the weather last Sunday! The students (and staff) were so excited to have enough snow to make recess and outdoor learning what it should be in winter! Please enjoy the scenes from the playground in the Bobcat sightings video below.
Since it's shaping up to be a wintery end to the season, I wanted to share some information that may help you with timing on storm related shortened days. As always, call us if you have any questions or needs!
Alternate Storm Related Schedules
Late arrival: The storm related late arrival schedule will typically be a two-hour delay:
PreK: No AM Prek
Buses: AM routes will run 2 hrs later than normal, arriving at the school at 9:30.
Drop-offs: Parents may begin dropping off students at 9:30.
Doors open for all students at 9:30
Meals: We will serve breakfast and lunch on late arrival days. The menu may be adjusted to allow for a quicker grab and go breakfast.
Early Release: The timing of a storm-related early release will depend on the timing of the storm. We typically would not have a planned early release before 11:00 AM.
Prek: There will be no PM Prek, and there may not be AM PreK (parents need to be tuned in for information.)
Buses: Buses will arrive at the school at the time school is released per the cancellation notice that goes out. For example, if the early release is called for 11:00, the buses will pick up students at Marcia Buker 11:00 AM.
Pickups: Pickup begins after the buses have departed.
Meals: We will serve breakfast and lunch on early release days'. The menu may be adjusted to allow for quicker grab and go meals.
I know it's not really not Groundhog day, of course, but I do feel a little like Bill Murray writing this next message: When picking up your child at the end of the day, PLEASE follow these rules:
Park near or in the Houdlette Field lot until the buses have left.
Do not proceed to the front of the school until the buses have left.
Do not park across the street from the school to wait (very very unsafe).
Be sure to look behind you on all sides when backing out after picking up your child. Your backup mirror may now give you enough visibility.
Thank you!
Enjoy the beautiful wonderland wherever you are, and NFL fans, I wish you a happy Super Bowl!
In partnership with you,
~ Mary
