sunlit school

Hello Families. Happy Friday!

I just came back inside from seeing what the early sunset had done to adorn our school this afternoon. Yesterday it was a beautiful moonrise, and today it's a crown of golden trees. I truly love the surprises of November skies!

We have had a good week at school. As I visited classrooms over the last few days, I saw a lot of good teaching and hard work going on. It's the pre-holidays push before the excitement of the season makes learning a little harder.

Please take a few minutes to read through the notices below, where you will find information on how to sign up for conferences next Thursday, the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair dates, and the MBES Student Leadership Food Drive.

In partnership with you,

Mary

November Menus

Breakfast
Lunch: Note: 11/18 and 11/20 lunches will be swapped with each other.

Time for cold weather attire: At Marcia Buker, we are proud that our students enjoy two outdoor recesses a day and have many outdoor learning experiences. Please makes sure your child wears appropriate winter clothing (long pants, long sleeves/sweater/sweatshirt, socks, etc) and is equipped with outdoor gear. For those whose children have outgrown their coats and other cold weather items, the PTG will have a selection of gently worn items available at no cost on conference night.

It Takes a Village

The new MBES Student Leadership Team has done a great job organizing their first project: A food drive to benefit the Backpack Program. Please donate an item or two if you can!

Food Drive

PTG-MBES Scholastic book fair: There is just something about a school book fair that kids love. After skipping last year, the PTG, Kerry Gardner, and Nurse Ashley are bringing back the popular mobile carts of books. We have made an effort this year to display only books; no gadgets and toys to detract from the goal of encouraging reading! Look for the flyer copied below in your child's backpack, along with instructions for an online payment option. The PTG wants all students to be able to participate, and they have a fund to assist with a purchase if needed. Please contact us at school if you need assistance.
