Greetings MBES Families!
I hope you have had a great weekend!
We certainly had a very busy week at school with picture day, bus safety lessons, and our Open House.
Picture retake day will be in October. We'll let you know the date soon for those who were absent or need a retake.
On Thursday, Ms Frederica and I brought each class to the Bobcat Den (the modular building) to review bus safety rules. Student volunteers demonstrated how to sit safely on a pretend bus and played a Safe or Unsafe matching game. The buses are very full this year, and we wanted to make sure that all of our students know how to keep themselves and others safe as they ride as well as the consequences for breaking the rules. We encourage you to talk with your child and help reinforce our expectations at home.
The highlight of the week was our Open House on Thursday. It was great to see so many of you there! We estimate that 85% or more of our students were represented by their families! Thanks to all who could arrange to come out.
From the weather to the hard work of teachers and support staff to the outpouring of community support, we have had a truly excellent first three weeks of school! Here's to an equally excellent ending to September!
In partnership with you,
Mary

It Takes a Village
Our students enjoyed Maine Harvest Lunch Week! We thank Fair Winds Farm, Tender Soles Farm, Willow Pond Farm, and our school nutrition team for providing our students with healthy, locally harvested foods!
We greatly appreciate the donations to the MBES PTG Backpack and Winter Gear Drive on Open House night. In case you weren't able to attend, we will gladly continue accepting donations. Nurse Ashley and the PTG will take winter gear and boots through the month of October, and Kerry Gardner accepts food and cash donations for the Backpack Program throughout the year. The generosity of our donors provides families who need a helping hand supplemental food for their children on the weekends and keeps many children warm in the colder months. On behalf of these families, our PTG, and our school community, we thank our donors!
On Open House night, the PTG also passed out CLYNK Bags, offering an easy way to contribute to the PTG's efforts at supporting our school and students. If you would like to participate, reach out to PTG President Katelyn. Lavallee or you can let us know at school.
