Dear MBES Families,
Welcome to school year 2024-25!
We all know that school principals are expected to say things like "We are excited to greet your children..." in their welcome letters. But, I'm not just saying it; we truly are excited! The school has been energized in the last few weeks with teachers and support staff who are preparing to make sure every student feels personally invited into our school and like a valuable member of their learning community. Our maintenance and custodial crew have been hard at work not only making our school safe and secure but making it look it's very best. Yes, the Marcia Buker team is amazing, and we can 't wait to see our students next week.
In the meantime, please take a few minutes to read the important notices and reminders below, and call the school if you have any questions.

Student and Family Handbook -- Your one-stop resource for school related information.
Arrival Time -- Please note that arrival time is 7:30 AM. Staff may be in the building before that, but they are preparing for the school day. We may not always be able to provide supervision for early arrivers.
AM Drop Off Procedure -- The drop off location for all students is at the south end of the building, facing the municipal and PD buildings. To allow other families to get through the line, drop-off drivers are asked to pull ahead or park in the municipal lot if your sendoff is lengthy. Also, please use extreme caution when exiting the drop off location as there may be pedestrian traffic.
PM Pickup Procedure -- For the safety of students, drivers waiting to pick up students from school are asked to park and wait in the Houdlette Field Parking lot. After the buses depart, drivers can slowly drive to the front of the school.
Please drive cautiously and follow the 15 MPH speed limit when in the elementary school zone during the hours of 7:20 AM and 3:00 PM. The storm-damaged flashing school zone light near the school has still not been replaced. Over the summer, the downed light went missing, causing a significant delay in resolving the issue. Superintendent Kempton is working with his team and our service providers to get a new light installed as quickly as possible.
