Greetings Parents and Guardians!

Happy Monday! It's a beautiful morning here at Marcia Buker!

I blame last Friday's not so beautiful weather for the cold I caught and my not getting a newsletter out. This will be a quick reminder of the week’s dates and a message from Nurse Ashley about a change in our response to COVID. Bobcat Sightings photos will be back this Friday!

Have a great week!

Mary

Message from Nurse Ashely DeWever

Hello Families!

The CDC has updated their guidance regarding COVID-19, which states "When people get sick with a respiratory virus, the updated guidance recommends that they stay home and away from others. For people with COVID-19 and influenza, treatment is available and can lessen symptoms and lower the risk of severe illness. The recommendations suggest returning to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone without use of a fever-reducing medication. Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses."

Based on the new recommendations, staff and students will not be required to isolate for 5 days if they test positive for COVID, but may return to school as soon as they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication and have improving symptoms. Richmond schools will not require masking upon return to our buildings.

If your family would like a free COVID test kit, please let me know and I can send one home with your student (while supplies last!).

As always if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
